Liturgical Ministries at Saint Andrew's
Everyone who attends services at Saint Andrew's is a participant in our worship. However, many Saint Andrew's parishioners discern a calling to assist in particular liturgical ministries that contribute to our common worship life. Below is a list of some of the opportunities for service in liturgical ministries at Saint Andrew's.
ALTAR GUILD
The primary purpose of the Altar Guild is to prepare and maintain the altar, Eucharistic vessels, linens, and vestments. The Altar Guild also maintains the worship areas used during all usual services as well as special services (weddings, memorials, ordinations, baptisms, confirmations, and funerals). All of the work of the Altar Guild is done in a spirit of reverence and prayerfulness.
If you are interested in the Altar Guild, please contact the office.
SERVING IN WORSHIP (LAY READERS, LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS, VERGERS, THURIFERS, torchbearers, CRUCIFERS, SERVERS)
Every week, when we gather to celebrate the Holy Eucharist, parishioners serve in a variety of roles in the worship service. Lay readers read the Old Testament & Epistle readings. Lay eucharistic ministers assist with serving the chalice. Vergers help direct the flow of the worship. Thurifers bear the incense. Torchbearers process the candles. Crucifers carry the cross. Servers carry the Gospel and assist the priest at the altar. If you are interested in serving in one of these ministries, please contact the office.
